Dear Sir
Planning Application: 109-117 Olive Avenue Leigh-on-Sea
- SOS 06/01632/FUL
On behalf of my Association I would like to raise our objection to the proposed development at 109-117 Olive Avenue, Leigh-on-Sea. Our reasons for objection are as follows:-
1. Detrimental to street scene. The long unbroken frontage of the proposed building to the east of
the site (the Southend part) would have a dominating and intrusive effect on
the street. The blocks to the west are separated and provide a more open aspect
to those passing in the street and residents living opposite.
2. Insufficient parking. The
site is located in an area which has no public transport links. It must be
assumed therefore that residents and visitors will be coming and going by car.
The parking provision of one space per unit will be insufficient to meet this
likely need. Olive Avenue itself is relatively narrow and residents already
experience parking problems; this bad situation will be seriously exacerbated
by the vehicles using these flats.
3. Insufficient amenity space. The amount of amenity space provided (especially on the eastern
part of the site) falls short of the Council’s standard. There is very little open
area around the buildings especially for families with young children – the
nearest public open space is a long walk away.
I understand that this development will include a number of affordable units and this is welcomed.
I would be grateful that my comments into account when considering this planning application.
Yours sincerely,
E. G. Cornish (Eddie)
