This
is a community website for Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, England.
Its purpose is to support those local community groups and individuals
who seek to protect the character and environment of Leigh and
the quality of life of its residents.
Different local community groups tend to require similar resources
(funding, venues, organisational needs, etc), often mirror groups
in other geographical locations (e.g. residents' associations)
and frequently share overlapping goals (transport needs, planning
issues, safety, etc). It is also often the case that separate
groups deal with the same service provider (most often Southend
Council) about the same issue at the same time.

Matters believes that individual groups working together towards shared
goals are more effective, can achieve more and do so more quickly.
Leigh Matters intends to
provide:-

for community groups both in Leigh and across Southend
- an emailing
service to enable rapid distribution of news
- calendars of
shared events
- information
on common resources (e.g.funding)
- progress on
joint campaigns
